Hello Glenmont and friends. I've started this blog for a number of reasons. Most importantly, I care about community. While I was born in Montgomery County, I grew up mostly in Massachusetts. In my early 20s, I moved back to downtown Silver Spring. After a few years, my wife and I began house hunting. We knew we wanted to be somewhere in Eastern County on the Redline, but were priced out of our familiar downtown stomping ground and Wheaton. Thus, we settled on--and eventually settled into--Glenmont.
I'm very interested in urban planning, design, and community cohesion. I plan on addressing these topics in my blog, which is appropriate given the revamped Glenmont Sector Plan. This blog will follow the plan's progress and attempt to keep its finger on the pulse of the community. In addition, I aim to keep folks abreast of what's going on at MNCPPC. While I'm green to blogging and can't promise success, I can promise the use of this blog as a means of connecting with one another about our neighborhood and its happenings.
Finally, I also enjoy photographing things in my community: things to spark thought, crack a smile, or just simply please aesthetically . Our community has quite a bit of beauty--there's no shame in sharing it.
Hope you enjoy and feel free to comment. I'm looking forward to the next few months (years?) of posting with you!
